Hi All,
Here in mid-elevation Colorado, summer’s wrapping up. You can feel it in the air, a hint of cool sometimes riding on the breeze. Skis in the shed, partially hidden behind boxes and tools, noticed.
I’m doing an Avalanche Dreams “second book launch” this fall. A few in-person events, podcast guesting, those sorts of things. (Appearances listed below.)
New Reviews:
Thanks to you kind souls; as of this writing we’ve got 44 Amazon reviews. That’s a decent count at this juncture, but as part of my PR push we need to bump our Amazon review count above fifty.
If you have read but not reviewed the book on Amazon, provided you have a ‘Zon account, please consider doing so. Just a star review works, while your written take is gold. And please contact me if you’d like a review copy ebook (Kindle) free of charge, we’ve got a handful available.
(Caveat, immediate family and close friends, please do not review. Also, please, no author-to-author exchanges. Amazon is a stickler about such things.)

Sorry folks, I messed up the date for the Neptune Mountaineering book signing. It’s September 26.
As for events:
Lisa and I will attend the Colorado Snowsports Hall of Fame gala, September 7th in Vail. This year’s inductees include Lindsey Vonn. We’re looking forward to her speech. If you’re there, please give us a shout.
After the Gala, a few book signings.
We’ve scheduled Explore Booksellers, Aspen, for September 13th. The presentation plan with Explore is a talk with a “conversation partner.” This should be interesting, as a braided memoir such as Avalanche Dreams covers so much ground. Lots to till! Would a college philosophy professor make a good convo counterpart? Show up and see.
Then it’s Neptune Mountaineering, Boulder, Colorado, ___September 26th.___ I’ve not decided what’s on tap for that — perhaps I’ll read then do a Q&A. And books shall be signed.
A few weeks later, it’s back to Aspen for what I think will be an extra-special book event. Prolific ski writer Jay Cowan (Going Downhill Fast) has wrangled me and ski mountaineer/memoirist Mike Marolt (Shishapangma) into joining him for a three-person book event at the Aspen Historical Society; on October 4th.
I’ve known Jay since 1960s high school in the old mining town. Marolt has become a valued friend as well. Join us for what I guarantee will be a worthy bull session.

We’ve also got a backcountry symposium happening here in the Roaring Fork Valley, Colorado. All day October 5. Looks like I’ll be making some kind of appearance there — perhaps a sit-down with Chris Davenport. Details forthcoming.
And, just before Christmas we’re going ultra-local with a talk and signing at our local library here in Carbondale, Colorado. Last minute gifts galore! That’s on tap for December 11th.
