Lou’s News #23 — More Book Events — September 2024
Hi All,
Our “autumn relaunch” for Avalanche Dreams is cooking along. Most recently: a full house signing at Explore Booksellers in Aspen.
With the exception of Neptune Mountaineering in Boulder, Colorado, I’ve kept future in-person appearances to local venues here in the Roaring Fork Valley.
For reach without physically traveling, podcast guesting is key. We kicked that off a few weeks ago with Cripple Creek Backcountry’s Totally Deep, and have ‘casts in process with a number of other venues. I’ll tout the podcasts via social and newsletters as they come up.
Thanks to all of you: We’re grateful for the positive reception Avalanche Dreams has received. The book is selling well, supported by many kind reviews from readers.
How you can help:
If you’ve read the book and haven’t yet done so, consider leaving a review on Amazon or Goodreads. Your feedback is invaluable and helps others discover the story.
Coming events:
Neptune Mountaineering, Boulder, Colorado; September 26th. My conversation partner for Neptune will be Sam Bass, director of Marketing for Eldora Mountain Resort, and former managing editor of Skiing magazine. We’ll talk uphilling, family, maybe some family hill-upping, and anything involving up and down on skis (smile).

Aspen Historical Society; on October 4th.
A few weeks after Neptune, it’s back to Aspen for what I think will be an extra-special book event. Prolific ski writer Jay Cowan has wrangled me and ski mountaineers Mike & Steve Marolt into joining him for a multi-author book event at the Aspen Historical Society. I’ve known Jay since 1960s high school in the old mining town. The Marolts have become valued friends as well. Join us for what I guarantee will be a worthy bull session.

We’ve also got a backcountry symposium happening here in the Roaring Fork Valley, Colorado. All day October 5. Looks like I’ll be doing a conversation presentation with Chris Davenport, as the closing keynote.

And, just before Christmas we’re going ultra-local with a talk and signing at our library here in Carbondale, Colorado. Last minute gifts galore! That’s on tap for December 11th, with conversation partner Cindy Hirschfeld, Editor-in-Chief, Cross Country Skier.
(I didn’t include times for the events above. Better to grab those from their respective websites.)
Thanks for your support!
