Lou’s News #24 – Book Events & Memoir Playlist
Hi All,
Our recent Neptune Mountaineering (Boulder, Colorado) book signing was a blast. Full house, and Sam Bass was the perfect conversation partner.
Just a few events to go, see below.
In other bookie news, The-High-Route dot com just dropped an excellent podcast featuring yours truly. The convo ranges from writing craft to innovative caffeination. Check it out here.

As to adventure memoirs, one of my inspirations is Barry Blanchard’s The Calling – A Life Rocked by Mountains. Along with Blanchard’s wood-cut chapter title graphics and prolific illustrations (not to mention his brutally honest story), I’ve always loved his included playlist.
With that in mind, I realized that my memoir, Avalanche Dreams, needs a tune list as well. And while I’m at it, how about a compilation of “works cited”?
Here you go (all in no particular order, and yes, most is yesteryear, yet often timeless):
AVALANCHE DREAMS – PLAYLIST
Talking Heads – Once in a Lifetime
John Coltrane – A Love Supreme
Beatles – Getting Better
Led Zeppelin – Good Times Bad Times
Rolling Stones – Gimme Shelter
The Cream – Crossroads
Beatles – Helter Skelter
Steppenwolf – Born to be Wild
Traditional – 90 Pounds of Rucksack (Various versions available online)
The Jimi Hendrix Experience – Love or Confusion
America the Beautiful
Quirino Mendoza et. al. – Cielito Lindo
